The Gear Page

"Photographers, not cameras, take pictures." -- Michael Busselle
Photography is one of those things where people often get obsessive about equipment and forget to actually use it. Nevertheless, it seems almost defacto that any page with photos on it be accompanied by a page about what kit the photographer had, so here's mine:
- Pentax ME super body
- Pentax 50mm f/1.7 lens
- Pentax 28mm f/2.8 lens
- Vivitar 70-210mm f/3.5 lens
- Pentax Optio S4i
- Some random toy cameras
I also have a couple of filters, a flash and a tripod, and a box to put it all in. The whole lot didn't cost too much; I'm always reticent to buy new stuff since at the moment I reckon that if I take crappy pictures with cheap gear then I'm ahead of the game compared to all those people who take crappy pictures using several hundred quid's worth of kit. And, of course, the less stuff I have the less I have to carry ;-).

All the film photos were scanned from negatives using a film scanner (see why I use a film scanner to see why I don't just scan the print). Any retouching gets done using The GIMP, then the images get fed into a script where they are cropped, scaled and sharpened before being spat out as JPEGs of various sizes.
