I’ve been thinking about getting stuck in ruts. I’ve been taking photos again for just over a year now, making this the longest sustained run I’ve had. I’m looking for themes in my work, but I’m worried that all I’m seeing is the same old pictures taken over and over. I walked past this crack the other day and felt the urge to take a picture, but I remembered this one and thought “I have this already”. The walk was all “garages I took a picture of”, “pallet I took a picture of”, exactly the kind of naming the video I posted the other day rejects. I don’t want to mindlessly take this picture every time I pass it, but I also don’t want to decide that this is the best I will ever manage.
