If I was going to stick with one camera, with one lens and one film then it would probably be my Pentax ME Super with a 28mm lens and Portra 400nc. The one thing that makes me not like this setup is that—sometimes!—it’s just a little too grainy, or a little too soft. I love photographs that are like holes in the world. I love the feeling that your eyes are looking through the surface: the paper, or the screen. Softness and grain block that. They remind you that the surface is there, that there is no hole: you finish up looking at the picture rather than into it. The Hasselblad is better at making holes… but I don’t take the same pictures with the Hasselblad.
